Emergence of Female Entrepreneurs in Dubai

The landscape of business has changed. The change isn’t limited in functioning capacity but also in who runs the business. Businesses sometime ago were considered as strict male dominant areas where women didn’t have any hope. This has changed now. More and more women are empowering themselves and are entering businesses through one way or another. One can give a major credit to not only their courage and determination but also towards the fact that being enable to learn and have proper education has provided some sort of ease in paving this way for women to become businesswomen.
Dubai being the informal economic hub offers a lot of business opportunities. With the rise of entrepreneurs in Dubai, one widely observed change is the emergence of women entrepreneurs in the business scenario. And unlike the general perception, that women are only good with fashion and related stuff, these entrepreneurs own businesses that were considered a male’s domain forever and ever. This fresh change of scenario is what was ultimately needed and has given many aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to apply their ideas.
A testimony to the fact that women are being empowered in Dubai is the Dubai Business Women Council commonly known as DBWC. It was formed in 2002 under the guardianship of Dubai Chamber of trade and Commerce. Today DVWC is a platform through which women with entrepreneurial mindsets are able to launch their businesses. DBWC’s initiative Ro’Ya in partnership with Master card is being organized with an aim to “empower and encourage budding female entrepreneurs in U.A.E.”
The inaugural program in 2014 attracted women from across the Emirates to its series of workshops designed to advise, educate and inform participants as they start out on their journey to launch their own business. There are a series of workshop designed with the concept to empower these aspiring entrepreneurs with the correct knowledge and tools to begin their entrepreneurial journey.  These workshops are followed by a gala dinner and a grand final pitching event that invites selected Ro’Ya participants to come and present their ideas in front of a jury.
Entrepreneurs like Nicole Rodrigues Larson, Alanoud Badar, Negin Fattahi-Damsal, & Hend Al Hasmmi have created their names in the fashion, grooming and self care industry.
Companies like Global Integrated Services also have offers that can guide these entrepreneurs towards building business setup in Dubai. GIS offers the service of structuring of business plans and offers feasibility studies which are often required by entrepreneurs looking forward to begin a business in Dubai. They have helped several clients with company formation in Dubai as well with their diverse range of service and experienced team.
